The C. purpureus R40 lab isolate expressing dsRED from a transgene targeted to its sex chromosome.

Because R40 is male, only male progeny will inherit the transgene in crosses to this line. This not lnly provides a tool to rapidly screen the sex ratio of experimental crosses but also demonstrates that gene targeting via homologous recombination functions in the heterochromatic sex chromosomes in Ceratodon.
